A Cumbrian business that is only four months old has struck Gold in the Great Taste Awards organised by the Guild of Fine Food Retailers.
Sarah Hunter, of Hunter's Puddings in Kendal, entered her gluten-free sticky toffee and chocolate fudge puddings into these prestigious awards only weeks after starting to trade and was thrilled when the award winners were announced earlier this week.
"The gluten-free chocolate fudge pudding won Silver and the gluten-free sticky toffee pudding won Gold and now goes through to the championship judging," explained Sarah. "It is really encouraging for me to receive national recognition and such a high accolade so soon after starting the business. This is all on top of winning the buyers' award from Distinctly Cumbrian earlier in August. In both cases, my gluten-free puddings were judged on taste against more conventional recipes so it is really proof of the puddings - gluten-free can taste as good as the best."
